ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

At Balmoral, we have 115 hectares of organic vineyards.

Organic vineyards use a range of practices to comply with organic farming regulations, including:

• Fertilising with organic materials such as compost, green manure and crop residues.
• Managing pests and diseases through proper vine nutrition and by creating conditions that support beneficial insects and other organisms that naturally control pests and diseases or prevent their spread. Physical control methods, such as insect traps, and approved substances, such as sulphur, are also used.
• Increasing biodiversity within and around the vineyard by growing a variety of plants that encourage biodiversity in general, support beneficial organisms in particular, and create favourable microclimatic conditions for the vines.
• Managing yields to produce high-quality grapes.
• Implementing careful practices throughout grape growing, harvesting and winemaking.

We have reforested more than 300 hectares on our El Moralejo estate.

Reforestation helps combat climate change, as trees absorb carbon dioxide and help reduce global warming.

At Balmoral, we have two reservoirs that store water for irrigating our crops.

These reservoirs allow us to make better use of water by collecting rainwater and storing groundwater.

Drip irrigation systems ensure efficient water use, making the most of this resource and preventing excessive consumption.

We have a water treatment plant that allows us to reuse water for purposes such as irrigation.

Waste generated by our activities is deposited in designated areas for subsequent treatment.
